>> Has any one seen the Bruce Dern movie, Silient Running? Probibly no. It came out at the same time as 2001 a Space Oddessy. 2001 got all the hype but Silient Running got in Playboy. I only got Playboy to read the article...
>>For those who never heard of Silient Running (but you have heard of Playboy), the movie had three 4 foot high robots that waddled around a spaceship that maintained Earth's forests during a nuclear war. Bruce Dern gets injured and has to reprogram one of the robots to become a doctor/surgen. A great scene is when Bruce Dern and two robots are playing poker and the two robots show each other their cards.
>> To me, these robots are the closest to realistic robots that Hollywood has ever shown. I can't wait till Asimo becomes a Hollywood star! On a tv program last year I saw a segment that showed a Asimo type robot operating a backhoe! There goes somebody's job. But it looked fantastic. ( By the way, Asimo doesn't do anything on his own, there is always somebody just off-screen to jump in in case something goes wrong).
>> Nano-bots are another thing that gets me puffed up. How can they make a molecule size machine do something when they can't get a full size one to do something?? "This nano-bot will be injected then it will search out the cancer, then it will kill it". How does it locate the cancer, how does it kill it, how does it know the cancer has been killed, where does it get enough power for long enough to do the job, and what happens to the used-up machine? Do we pee it out?? Thats gonna hurt!! And because it is small, there will be many many inside of you, cutting, slicing, chewing, how will it stay in position, I don't want any floating around in my brain or ears--buzzzzz.
>> Let's here your thoughts on the subject of real robots( I love Star Trek's Data, but he is just an actor), or future robots.
I'm Electroken...Stopping by to say hi....
