Do the St Louis rules require the bot to shoot the cone with a paintball gun? Count me in one way or the other.

My aluminum monster will have quarter inch aluminum plate, so what the Hell, throw a marker on those babies!

I'd wear any battle damage proud!

I've actually been able to make a little progress on the A.M.

What does your bot look like LeenSTL?????

I've been busy helping my wife get into grad school and taking care of my class preparation to make much progress. However, the base chassis is a traxxas e-maxx type with a lathe motor so far. I have a nice little Robosweep body (ie, a robosweep body donation) which will make a top platform for it and give it a finished look, and it will also keep the PC and hard drive out of the elements.

An e-maxx chassis is about a foot wide and is more than a foot long, maybe sixteen inches or so? You can drop it from three feet high and it just hunkers down like a good RC truck should do.

The lathe motor is a 45 turn trinity, I'll see if Winston has any ideas for gearing it down to get lots of torque.

I will be working on the PC to compass, IR, sonar, and GPS interfaces for a while, I'll have to figure out how to get the IR info into the PC, posibly using I2C which the PC can interface to for the compass and sonar.

Hopefully I'll have something to show at the next meeting.

I reposted this here in order to keep it "on topic".

I'm gonna load up the wheelchair base to start working on it at Jerry's this evening. I'm gonna get the controller location, battery's, etc planned out. Then run over to H.Depot to buy some materials to start the fabrication.

Well I got my battery box finished. I hand folded it from 3/8 punched steel. I'm using 2-12v dry cells, from trolling motors for power.

Someday Robot Power will deliver my motor controller.....While they have great products, they are really Sh*ty when it comes to shipping in a reasonable amount of time. The only company I've found that is worse for shipping is Futurlec. But enough bashing.....Once it comes in, I'll be mounting it under the back of the frame, with additional fans and a monster sized heat sink I got from Gateway Electronics.

Next I'll be making a base to mount the front sensors, compass, micro, etc on the front end of the chassis. This will allow the back of the frame to still be covered by the stock plate steel (which was formerly the wheelchair seat mount) The idea here is to have a cargo area.....not sure why, but I want one.....

After that I'll be adding a roll bar to house the GPS, and laser range detector. Oh and a blinking light (can't build a bot without one of those!!!)

Anyone still working on a mini-terrain / paintball bot?

I've had no progress with mine.

What about the wheelchair bots? Jerry? Winston?

I just bought a camera system for my wheelchair project, posted elsewhere on the forum. I've been working on another project at the "immediate" moment. (Snakes motor controller) Jerry's is being stored at my place, so nothings been done with it. Winfield Mike just built a new platform for his, which will be at the next meeting. Thats all I know about what your asking....

It looks like Winfield Mike has the highest score on the mini terrain bots.

He has VIDEO posted on you-tube.

See the "Movies" topic.

I'm trying to resolve a computer issue, so that I can compile code again.
I did a stupid and killed my XP install.
So I went with Fedora and am setting up Vbox to run XP for my compiler issue to be resolved.
While not having to worry about Windows problems (in the same fashion) fingers crossed!!!

I wonder what the status is on everyones terrain bots?

Mine is just sitting on the bench, collecting dust. I guess that I lost interest.

Anyone else got anything working?

OK - Scratch my last post - I'm leaving the post up though, because it was true at the time.

I posted a video on the "Mini-Terrain Movies" Area.

I didn't do any work on it. I just made a movie.

I've written a GPS navigation routine for the TRM, but its not working properly yet.
Its based on Nick's model he wrote for me at a previous FNBS.
Otherwise that's where I'm at....
